AVANDIA & ACTOS
SIDE EFFECTS
HEART FAILURE
COMPENSATION CLAIM

Avandia and Actos are two pharmaceutical drugs manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline in the UK taken by millions of mostly overweight patients throughout the world who suffer from diabetes that have recently been the subject of two reports which indicate that Avandia and Actos side effects may be responsible for increased incidence of heart failure. The use of Avandia and Actos has doubled in the last three years due to increases in obesity which precipitates type II diabetes. The initial report was carried out by a US cardiologist which was followed up by a larger study from Wake Forest University. The second study involved over 26,000 patients and estimated that 1 in 50 of those who are prescribed Avandia or Actos for more than 26 months will suffer from heart failure whether or not they have suffered from heart problems in the past. Both the US Food and Drugs Administration and the European Medicines Agency are reviewing the matter and may in due course place restrictions on the sale of Avandia and Actos which could involve total withdrawal of the products. Whilst it is still early days, if you or one of your relatives have suffered from heart failure after or whilst taking Avandia or Actos, you should attempt to write down everything that you can recall about the drug and its effects whilst it is still fresh in your mind as this may facilitate a compensation claim in due course.

In view of the fact that Avandia and Actos side effects may have been responsible for thousands of deaths in the United Kingdom, Personal Injury UK is considering whether or not a multi party action compensation claim is feasible and if you are one of the victims of Avandia or Actos side effects you may wish to register with us to ensure that we contact you in the event of this matter being taken forward by our specialist lawyers which will initially involve an application for legal aid on the basis of group legal action.

Time limits do apply in a compensation claim and if you have suffered from Avandia or Actos side effects including heart failure or if a member of your family has died as a result of heart problems whilst taking this drug you need urgent advice on how to take matters forward and how to protect your legal position. Our solicitors are personal injury experts and offer free legal advice and the no win no fee scheme.

A compensation claim for injuries caused by any drug can be taken either on an individual basis or by the use of a procedural method known as a "multi party action" or a "class action" or a "multi party action" which allows a number of people with the same injury caused by the same product to sue as a group. Under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 it is no longer necessary to prove that the manufacturer of a product is at fault and damages must be paid for personal injury even when there is no evidence of negligence.
